10 to Do After Fat Transfer Surgery to Ensure Fat Survival

You should know that there are several things you can do to help the rate of fat survival after a fat transfer surgery procedure. Ensuring that the fat survives will make sure that the results remain as good as possible. Here are 10 things you can do after surgery to help more fat survive:

Wear Compression Garments

Wearing compression garments recommended by your doctor will help with the healing process, as well as ensure better results.

After Fat Transfer Surgery, Feed the Fat!

You will need to consume extra calories to provide those new fat cells with a good supply of blood. Eat nutrient-rich foods, including those with healthy fats, such as salmon, avocados, walnuts, and extra virgin olive oil.

Get to Sleeping the Right Way

Don’t go squishing that new fat when you sleep. You’ll need to get creative so that you aren’t laying on that new fat. For instance, you’ll want to sleep on your stomach if you received a Brazilian butt lift.

Don’t Go Driving

If you had a Brazilian butt lift, you shouldn’t drive for at least two weeks. When you drive, not only are you sitting on that new fat, but when you push those pedals, your pushing against your back and butt, and can push the results out of whack.

Sit on Your Thighs

Again, this refers to Brazilian butt lift patients: You don’t want to sit directly on your buttocks. One trick that can help is to sit on a rolled-up towel placed underneath the thighs to keep your weigh off your buttocks—just don’t cut off the blood supply!

Absolutely No Smoking

This is a biggie, as smoking can inhibit the healing process by affecting the flow of oxygen and nutrients in the blood stream. With fat transfer, the fat needs a good supply of healthy blood to thrive.

Start Exercising (At the Right Time)

You will want to avoid strenuous exercise during the first couple of months. You can of course do light impact exercises such as light walking. You want to avoid any type of movement that can put pressure on the fat transfer area.

After about eight weeks, the fat should be sufficiently established and a more robust exercise session can help push nutrient-rich blood to the area. Just avoid any exercise that can put pressure, trauma, or compression on the area.

Stay Hydrated

In additional to relying on water, you need to make sure you are getting the necessary electrolytes, salts, and minerals that will keep your body hydrated. You can incorporate these by drinking sports drinks or adding a small amount of Himalayan salt to your diet.

Keep the Weight Stable

If your weight fluctuates after the fat transfer surgery, it can affect the results. For example, weight loss can reduce the amount of fat in the face, which can affect facial fat transfer patients. Interestingly, weight gains have less of an impact in facial patients. However, weight gain can cause less than satisfactory results for Brazilian butt lift patients.
