More and more the popularity of curvaceous backsides is increasing. Gone are the days of flat butts. This popularity is probably due to the high-profile celebrities such as Kim Kardashian, Jennifer Lopez and others, who are admired for their abundant backsides. With this increase in popularity of the bodacious butts, many people are seeking procedures to increase their buttocks. The Brazilian butt lift is perhaps one of the best procedures to gain those curves.
What is the Brazilian Butt Lift?
During this procedure, a surgeon will extract the patient’s own fat through a gentle liposuction technique. This fat is generally removed from areas of the body that may have excess fat such as the abdomen, thighs, and/or hips. Because excess fat is being removed, patients also get the added bonus of smoothing out areas that may have unwanted fat deposits.
From there, the collected fat is processed and purified through a process using a centrifuge. During the process, only the healthiest fat cells are harvested for transplantation. These processed fat cells are then injected via small cannulas into the buttocks. The fat is injected at varying depths for better absorption, which will in turn create a natural appearance.
Is There a Difference Between Butt Implants and a Brazilian Butt Lift?
Butt implants are silicone devices that are placed in the buttock area; while a Brazilian butt lift uses the patient’s own fat. Because natural fat is used, a more natural look is created due to the pliability of the fat cells. Additionally, there is no risk of rejection or allergic reaction when using the patient’s own fat cells.
Are There any Risks to Brazilian Butt Lifts?
As with any surgical procedure, there are some risks to undergoing a Brazilian butt lift. Dr. Thomas Wright says, “My staff and I will discuss the entire procedure with a patients to assess individual lifestyle and health to ensure that the risks are few.”
He continues, “After the procedure, we will provide instructions to ensure a quick and satisfactory recovery time. He says that patients may need to wear compression garments to help the area heal with a desired curvy look. All patients will receive specially tailored post-operative instructions.
