After the numbing has gone into effect, another injection of a solution of saline, epinephrine, and an additional anesthetic is made. This solution will cause the treatment area to plump up as the fat mixes with the solution. This plumpness or tumescence will make fat removal much easier. It will also reduce bruising or blood loss due to the epinephrine. Tiny cannulas are used to gently suck out the fat permanently.
Recovery from Arm Liposuction
Because of the minimally invasive nature of the procedure, recovery is quick, and there is little to no down time. Patients can usually return the next day to their normal routines. However, patients should not engage in strenuous exercise or heavy lifting from about 10 days. Compression garments will be worn to help speed up the recover, as well as helping the treated area take on its new, more contoured look. Any pain can usually be treated with an over-the-counter pain medication.
While the results of arm liposuction is considered a permanent solution, fatty arms can reoccur if the patient gains weight, which creates new fat deposits.
